JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
Senior nurses play a unique role in the delivery of high quality care. Senior Nurses are experts in evidence-based practice in mental health and addiction. In addition to providing direct patient care, the senior nurses engage in teaching, mentoring, consulting, research, management and systems improvement. They are able to adapt their practice to work across settings, and influence outcomes by providing expert consultation to all care providers and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems. Senior nurses provide expert advice related to psychiatric/mental health and SUD conditions or treatment pathways. They focus on improving patient care and developing services.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Clinical Practice

Provide skilled safe, holistic, culturally competent, person-centered nursing care to patients, families, community, and society, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Deliver nursing care and practice embedding Naufar Center nursing Scope of Practice as the ethical and professional framework alongside consideration of the socio-cultural needs of patients, families, communities, and society.

Support complex patients contributing to MDT in decision making relating to treatment planning and interventions offered.

Maintain and demonstrate clinical competence in all aspects of care provided to patients on specific unit.

Develop, implement, evaluate, revise, and provide input to the patients’ treatment plan and provide care according to the plan of care.

Use communication skills to ensure that other members of the health care team and the patient remain fully informed.

Perform and document a comprehensive patient assessment including but not limited to medical history, physical, psychosocial emotional, ethnic, cultural and spiritual assessment of the patient’s health status.

Formulate differential diagnoses through the integration of the patient health information and evidence-informed practice.

Initiate appropriate referrals to other members of the health care team based on assessment and referral guideline.

Develop or contribute to the long-term care plan in collaboration with the patient/family and the health care team, and document as part of an interdisciplinary plan of care.

Provide direct, specialized, comprehensive care, emphasizing health promotion, patient advocacy, disease prevention and collaborative management strategies to positively affect health outcomes.
Education, learning and development

The senior nurse acts as a preceptor, mentor, role model, and coach to nursing colleagues, learners, other healthcare team members, and students.

Collaborates with individuals, groups, and educators to identify and address specific learning needs for patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

Provides and promotes educational programs within the Naufar Center and beyond.

Assist the Head Nurse with the annual staffing plan, unit annual operational plan, staff developmental plans, and staff annual performance reviews.

Assume responsibility for staffing and scheduling personnel ensuring that assignments reflect appropriate utilization of staff, appropriate skill mix, and staff competence.

Cover the Head Nurse duties during absence and leave as needed.

ESSENTIAL Job Requirements:
Education:
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Mental Health Nursing
Certifications/Licensure:
-
Valid Primary license from the country of origin (if applicable)
-
Eligible for license from the Licensing authority in the State of Qatar to practice Healthcare Profession.

Up-to date CPD in relevant areas.
Experience:
-
5 years of experience in Nursing includes at least three-year experience in mental health or Addiction.
-
"0 experience" for Qataris and residents of Qatar who graduates from Qatar institutions and successfully completed the internship.
-
2 years of experience in clinical supervisory role.
-
2 years of experience in running group sessions.
Language Skills:

English: Fluent in spoken and written English language.

Arabic: Fluent in spoken and written Arabic language.
