Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Planner to lead the planning and execution of complex, high-risk, and high-value operational jobs.

This role is critical in ensuring strong commercial control, predictable execution, and risk management, while also mentoring planners and improving overall operational standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Planning & Execution

• Lead planning and execution of complex and high-risk jobs
• Conduct advanced feasibility assessments (routing, capacity, customs, warehousing)
• Develop detailed execution plans with contingencies
• Challenge incorrect assumptions and escalate when required

Commercial Control & Cost Management

• Validate cost structures and protect profit margins
• Identify commercial risks early and take corrective action
• Support pricing decisions with operational insights

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

• Manage critical suppliers and resolve performance issues
• Coordinate with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Accounts, etc.)
• Ensure smooth communication across departments

Execution Oversight & Risk Management

• Monitor execution quality and adjust plans proactively
• Handle escalations and disputes with clear decision-making
• Minimize operational disruptions and firefighting

Documentation & Compliance

• Ensure accurate, complete, and audit-ready documentation
• Maintain structured job files across all operational areas

Team Leadership & Development

• Review and guide planners on execution and decision-making
• Coach team members to improve performance and judgement
• Support onboarding and training of new staff

Process Improvement

• Identify inefficiencies and improve SOPs
• Drive continuous improvement in planning and execution standards
• Reduce operational risks and increase predictability

Billing & Job Closure

• Ensure all jobs are billing-ready without rework
• Align costs and revenue accurately
• Support accounts in resolving discrepancies

Requirements

• Proven experience in freight forwarding / logistics operations
• Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes
• Excellent commercial awareness and cost control skills
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving ability
• Experience managing complex or high-value shipments
• Leadership and team coaching experience preferred
• Strong communication and coordination skills
