Senior Pharmacist

Job Summary

The Senior Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations, ensuring safe and effective dispensing of medications, mentoring pharmacy staff, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and clinical standards. The role includes providing expert pharmaceutical guidance, monitoring drug use, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day pharmacy operations, including dispensing, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions.
  • Counsel patients on safe and effective use of prescribed medications.
  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal therapy management.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate stock of medicines and supplies, ensuring proper storage conditions.
  • Train, guide, and mentor pharmacists, interns, and support staff.
  • Implement quality assurance processes and adherence to pharmacy best practices.
  • Stay updated with latest developments in pharmacy practice, drug safety updates, and healthcare regulations.
  • Manage documentation, audits, and inspections according to statutory requirements.
  • Participate in hospital/clinical committees, if applicable, to contribute to policy and decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy (Pharm.D is an advantage).
  • Valid registration and license from the Pharmacy Council.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and therapeutic practices.
  • Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
  • Ability to lead a team effectively and ensure high standards of service.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
