Job Purpose:

The Senior Pre-Sales Engineer – Data Center Solutions is responsible for designing and presenting technical data center solutions that meet client requirements and align with company offerings. The role bridges the gap between sales and technical delivery teams by providing solution design, proposal development, cost estimation, and technical presentations for data center infrastructure, IT systems, and ELV components.


Key Responsibilities:

🔹 1. Solution Design & Architecture

• Analyze customer requirements and design tailored data center solutions covering:

o Power & Cooling Systems (UPS, CRAC/CRAH, PDUs)

o ELV Systems (CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm)

• Prepare technical drawings, layouts, and bill of materials (BOMs).

• Ensure proposed designs meet industry standards (TIA-942, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE).

🔹 2. Pre-Sales Technical Support

• Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and develop winning technical proposals.

• Conduct site surveys and gather client requirements.

• Prepare and deliver high-quality technical presentations and solution demonstrations.

• Support RFP/RFQ response preparation, including compliance matrices and technical documentation.

🔹 3. Costing & Proposal Development

• Estimate solution costs including hardware, software, and services.

• Work with vendors and distributors to obtain technical and commercial quotations.

• Prepare detailed technical and financial proposals ensuring competitiveness and profitability.

🔹 4. Client Engagement & Consultation

• Act as the technical focal point during pre-sales discussions.

• Advise clients on best practices for data center design, capacity planning, and sustainability.

• Participate in workshops and proof-of-concept (POC) sessions.

🔹 5. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with project, design, and delivery teams to ensure solution feasibility.

• Work closely with procurement and vendors to validate product selection.

• Provide knowledge transfer to implementation teams post-award.

🔹 6. Technology Awareness

• Stay updated on new technologies, vendors, and solutions in the data center domain.

• Evaluate new products and participate in internal training sessions.

• Build strong relationships with OEMs and technology partners.


Qualifications:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Computer Engineering.

Experience

• 4–6 years of experience in Data Center design and presales activities.

• Proven experience designing and proposing data center infrastructure solutions.

Technical Skills

• Solid understanding of:

o Data Center infrastructure (power, cooling, racks, cabling)

o Some ELV systems (CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm)

o DCIM & monitoring tools

• Proficiency with design and documentation tools (AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project).

• Familiarity with vendor ecosystems (Schneider, Vertiv, APC, Huawei, etc.).

Soft Skills

• Strong presentation and communication skills.

• Analytical and problem-solving mindset.

• Excellent proposal writing and documentation skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with sales, delivery, and vendor teams.


Certifications (Preferred)

• ATD / CDCP / CDCS / CDCMP (Data Center Design)

• BICSI Certification

• OEM-specific certifications (e.g., Schneider, Huawei, Cisco)
