The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) oversees the New Mexico public workforce system. The department is committed to supporting the business community through special recruitment, analyzing hard to fill jobs, layoffs, job fairs, and skills assessments for hiring; and assisting New Mexicans seeking employment opportunities with job search, job referrals and placement, and customized skill development such as interviewing skills and resume writing. The department administers programs to include business services; workforce training; Unemployment Insurance; labor law enforcement; veterans' services; and labor market information. In 2025, NMDWS expanded to include the Office of Housing.

Why does the job exist?

The media/graphics specialist will be responsible for creating and implementing cost-efficient and effective multi-media campaigns that represent the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS)and its services.
How does it get done?

The media/graphics specialist will create a complex production from storyboarding, shooting, and editing video content and graphics, that support the marketing and communication efforts of the department. They will maintain all of NMDWS websites and social media accounts and develop ongoing social media content. They are also responsible for updating website content, publications, and outreach materials for the agency.

This position supports agency staff, leadership, and partner organizations by producing visual and multimedia content that communicates programs, services, and initiatives to employers, job seekers, and the public.

Minimum Qualification

Associates Degree in Publications, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, and/or related field and one (1) year of experience in public relations, mass communications, television, radio, print media, emergency communications, and/or emergency management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions

Work will be performed primarily in an office setting, but on occasion will be performed in the outdoors during all types of weather conditions and in close proximity to fish and wildlife. Weekend and varied hours occasionally will be required for this position. Must be able to lift 60 pounds and operate computers and photography equipment.
