Senior Quality Control Engineer - Heavy Industrial

Job Title: Senior Quality Control Engineer

Experience Level: 5+ Years

Industry: Industrial Heavy Machinery & Piping Manufacturing

Department: Quality Control

Reports to: Factory Manager (to Assistant GM till factory manager is hired)

compensation package:

  • Salary Gross 30-35 K EGP monthly

Working Days: from Saturday till Thursday (only Friday off)

Working hours: from 8-4


Job Summary:

As a Quality Control (QC) Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all machinery and piping products meet company and international standards. This role includes developing inspection procedures, performing detailed quality checks, root cause analysis, and working closely with production, design, and safety teams to maintain high product quality.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Inspection & Testing:

  • Conduct dimensional, visual, mechanical, and functional inspections of heavy machinery and piping components.
  • Ensure that welding, painting, and assembly processes comply with applicable standards (ASME, ISO, API, DIN, etc.).
  • Review and verify raw material certificates, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and welder qualifications (WPQ).
  • Supervise non-destructive testing (NDT) activities such as RT, UT, MPI, and PT.

2. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare inspection test plans (ITPs) and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, test results, and quality reports for audit and traceability purposes.
  • Document and follow up on non-conformities (NCRs), corrective actions (CARs), and preventive actions (PARs).
  • Generate Final Inspection Reports (FIR) and dossiers for client submission.

3. Process Control & Improvement:

  • Monitor and improve production processes to ensure consistent quality output.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring defects using tools like 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and FMEA.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.

4. Supplier & Client Coordination:

  • Conduct incoming inspection of raw materials, bought-out items, and subcontracted components.
  • Interface with third-party inspection agencies and client QC representatives for project approvals.
  • Support client Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and inspections.

5. Compliance & Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and applicable project-specific quality requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations during inspections.


Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for heavy machinery and piping (e.g., welding, machining, assembly).
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, P&IDs, and material specifications.
  • Experience with NDT methods and quality inspection tools.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, ISO, AWS, API).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and quality management software.


Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications such as:
  • CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI (for welding inspection)
  • NDT Level II or III (UT, RT, MPI, PT)


Work Environment & Conditions:

  • Factory floor, workshops, and fabrication yards.
  • Occasional travel to supplier sites or client locations.

Use of PPE is mandatory in inspection and production areas.
