Role Purpose:
The Senior Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing site engineers, superintendents, and foremen to ensure the effective execution of construction activities across multiple disciplines on large-scale projects. The role ensures that work is delivered in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and approved schedules.
The position reports directly to the Construction Manager.
Key Accountabilities & Performance Measures
1. Site Supervision & Execution
- Lead and supervise site engineers, superintendents, and foremen.
- Ensure construction works comply with specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.
- Maintain strict adherence to CCC safety policies and procedures.
- Supervisory role effectively recognized by the Engineer.
- Work assignments consistently completed on schedule.
- All tasks meet contractual, quality, and safety standards.
2. Work Planning & Understanding
- Receive and interpret medium- to long-term work assignments (3-6 months) from the Construction Manager.
- Develop a clear understanding of scope, sequencing, and execution strategy.
- Clear and demonstrable understanding of project requirements.
3. Resource Assessment & Deployment
- Assess manpower and material requirements based on production norms.
- Prioritize and allocate resources to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Effective resource deployment acknowledged by the Engineer.
- Adequate materials consistently available to maintain workflow.
4. Method Statements & Work Programs
- Contribute to the development and improvement of work programs and project method statements.
- Support the Construction Manager in refining execution strategies.
- Recognized contributions to method statement development and work program optimization.
5. Technical Support & Development
- Provide technical guidance to resolve complex construction challenges.
- Mentor and train site engineers and superintendents to enhance competence.
- Issues resolved promptly and effectively.
- Noticeable improvement in tradesmen’s skills and overall team performance.
6. Progress Monitoring & Budget Awareness
- Review progress and forecasting reports submitted by subordinates.
- Compare progress against project budgets and schedules.
- Alert the Construction Manager of significant discrepancies or risks.
- Project timelines maintained without disruption.
- Materials and consumables readily available.
7. Coordination & Integration
- Coordinate activities across multiple trade disciplines.
- Liaise with stores personnel to ensure timely material availability.
- Effective coordination acknowledged across disciplines.
8. Staff Performance Appraisal
- Conduct objective and transparent performance appraisals.
- Evaluate staff execution against assigned responsibilities and KPIs.
- Staff agreement with fairness and objectivity of evaluation reports.
- Transparent and equitable assessment process demonstrated.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- VTC qualification.
- Minimum 7 years as a Site Superintendent on multiple mega projects within CCC.
- Minimum 25 years of relevant site experience, including at least 10 years within CCC.
- Diversified site experience across disciplines.
- Proven managerial experience (minimum 4 years).
- Strong communication, coordination, and operational planning skills.
- Proven report writing capability.
- Ability to produce detailed workshop sketches.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Strong influencing and leadership skills.
- Well-developed technical knowledge and understanding of construction execution methodology.
