We have a remote position for a Senior Tax Accountant in our Southern California-based CPA firm.
We are seeking an experienced tax professional who can handle complex tax returns, client communication, tax planning, and review work while helping improve workflow efficiency year-round.
We’re growing rapidly and need someone who can hit the ground running with sophisticated multi-entity tax structures, advisory work, and client-facing leadership.
This role offers growth potential into leadership and advisory management within 1–2 years for the right person.
We are an advisory-focused firm with a strong niche in dental and medical practices, serving dentists, doctors, medical professionals, business owners, real estate investors, and high-income individuals.
Our clients often have multiple entities and require proactive tax planning and strategic advisory services.
How You’ll Contribute
- Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns (S corporations, partnerships, multi-entity structures, real estate activities, multi-state filings)
- Review bookkeeping, adjust and reconcile general ledger accounts, perform year-end GL cleanup and tax adjustments
- Handle tax planning, client communication, and manage tax projects and deadlines
- Communicate proactively with clients on tax strategies, compliance matters, and advisory opportunities
- Respond to IRS and state notices on behalf of clients
- Supervise staff and provide guidance on technical tax issues
- Attend internal team meetings and collaborate with offshore support team
- Use AI tools and new technology to improve efficiency, workflow, accuracy, and client service
- Manage multiple deadlines effectively during tax season and maintain workflow during off-season
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA, EA, or Master in Taxation preferred
- 5 to 7 years of public accounting tax experience with strong technical knowledge in business and individual taxation
- Experience with advisory and client management preferred
- Deep expertise in: S Corp basis calculations, QBI, SSTB, Real Estate Professional Status, retirement contributions, reasonable compensation for S Corp owners, bonus depreciation & Section 179, etc
- Strong comfort with multi-entity tax structures and complex tax scenarios
- Excellent communication skills with significant client-facing capability
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Strong accountability, work ethic, and team-player mentality
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced remote environment
- Openness to learning and using AI tools and new technology
- Proficiency with ProConnect Tax, QuickBooks Online, Canopy, Microsoft Office, Adobe (experience with Gusto/ADP helpful
- California S Corp / partnership / LLC experience
- Form 540 / 100S / 565 / 568 experience
- California PTE election experience
- FTB notice experience
- Available during Pacific Time business hours

Hours:
