Job summary


The Senior Technical Consultant for Microsoft D365 Finance and Operations will work closely with the Senior Manager-IT to ensure the seamless operation of all technical services related to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations platform. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, and supporting IT systems, ensuring they meet the needs of various stakeholders, while adhering to policies, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).


The Senior Technical Consultant will be responsible for implementing and managing the security protocols for Finance and Operations systems, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all data and transactions within the platform. This role will also proactively address and mitigate any security risks, safeguarding against external threats, attacks, or attempts to compromise the system. The consultant will ensure that Microsoft Dynamics 365 systems are optimized, secure, and compliant with all necessary regulatory requirements.


Key Accountabilities


Business Analysis:


  • Requirements Understanding and Evaluation: The Senior Technical Consultant will collaborate with business stakeholders to understand, define, and evaluate existing business and IT requirements, processes, and procedures. This involves analyzing current operations against industry best practices and management system standards, with a focus on identifying opportunities for optimization and automation. The consultant will map business and IT-level specifications, providing insights into potential automation initiatives that align with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Issue Escalation and Multi-Initiative Engagement: The consultant will be responsible for escalating unresolved issues to IT teams or external vendors and ensuring timely resolutions. Additionally, they will successfully manage and contribute to multiple initiatives simultaneously, balancing priorities and maintaining alignment with business objectives. The role will require strong communication and coordination skills to ensure smooth collaboration across internal and external teams, ensuring that business and technical requirements are effectively addressed and implemented.



Development and Implementation:


  1. Lead the technical design and development of D365 FO solutions, including integrations, customizations, and extensions.
  2. Provide expert guidance on system architecture, technical feasibility, and implementation strategies.
  3. Work closely with functional consultants to align technical solutions with business requirements.
  4. Proficient in X++, SQL Server, Visual Studio, and Azure DevOps. Implement extensions using X++, Design and develop custom modules, workflows, and reports within D365 FO.
  5. Experience with Data Entities, OData, and web services. Build and maintain integrations between D365 FO and third-party applications using tools like Azure API Management, Data Entities, and custom APIs.
  6. Knowledge of LCS (Lifecycle Services) and D365 FO deployment processes.
  7. Familiarity with Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate).
  8. Participate in end-to-end solution delivery, including testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
  9. Ensure performance optimization, scalability, and reliability of technical solutions.
  10. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues during project execution.
  11. Create comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, deployment guides, and user manuals.
  12. Ensure adherence to coding standards, development best practices, and project timelines.
  13. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  14. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  15. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  16. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  17. Stay updated on the latest D365 FO updates, features, and industry trends to provide innovative solutions
  18. Supports with the database design, management and implementation, including (Tables, Views, Security, Stored procedures)
  19. Follows IT applications development process through the application development lifecycle


Project Execution and Testing:


  1. Takes the input from supervisor, appropriately and accurately applies comments/feedback.
  2. Communicates and applies project standards and quality
  3. Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
  4. Consistently delivers high-quality services to our clients
  5. Validates testing mechanisms, processes, defining and developing acceptance criteria and test scripts, ratifying test results towards acceptance (or otherwise) decisions
  6. Provides input into test plans as well as the testing processes
  7. Examines and tests the database health check on a weekly basis


Communication, Technical Understanding and Problem Solving:


  1. Assists in the facilitation of team and client meetings, delivers informative, well-organized presentations
  2. Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
  3. Possesses understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system designs
  4. Collaborates with others and demonstrate a customer centric behavior with clients and colleagues.
  5. Generates relevant reports ensuring they are completed in a timely and accurate manner, and meet the Department requirements, policies, and standards

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related discipline. Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Developer Associate (or equivalent) is a plus point

Minimum Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience

  • Expertise in D365 Finance & Operations : In-depth knowledge of modules like Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Manufacturing.
  • Configuration & Customization: Proficient in configuring and customizing D365 to meet business requirements.
  • System Integration: Experience integrating D365 with third-party systems using tools like Data Management Framework and Azure Logic Apps.
  • Programming Skills: Strong in X++, C#, JavaScript, HTML, and .NET for custom development.
  • Security & Compliance: Expertise in managing security roles, permissions, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Database Management: Skilled in SQL Server and query optimization for system performance.
  • Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills for resolving system issues and improving performance.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and ensure timely delivery with stakeholder communication.
  • System Upgrades & Change Management: Experience managing upgrades and system changes with minimal disruption.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Skilled in vendor management and escalation of issues for resolution.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Proficiency in Power BI and financial reporting tools to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer: Ability to train users and IT teams on D365 functionality and best practices.
