Position Title: Senior Technical Engineer – Consultant Level

Position Overview
The Senior Technical Engineer (Consultant) acts as a subject matter expert providing high-level technical advisory, independent engineering assessments, and strategic input across complex, multi-disciplinary projects. The role demands extensive consultancy experience in advising clients, validating designs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and offering optimized engineering solutions. This position requires interfacing with stakeholders at all levels, delivering technical authority, and ensuring the highest engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Advisory & Consultancy
- Provide expert technical consultancy to clients, project managers, and stakeholders.
- Conduct independent reviews of engineering designs, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
- Prepare and deliver technical advisory reports, recommendations, and presentations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for clients on project strategy, design alternatives, and optimization.
- Engineering Expertise & Oversight
- Review, validate, and endorse detailed engineering designs, calculations, and specifications prepared by contractors or design teams.
- Ensure technical compliance with international codes (e.g., ISO, ASME, BS, ASTM, ACI, IEEE, IEC, API).
- Oversee value engineering processes to achieve cost-effective yet robust solutions.
- Provide expert opinion on technical disputes, claims, or contractor deviations.
- Project Support & Leadership
- Act as an engineering consultant during project execution, supervising contractors and verifying adherence to technical standards.
- Participate in tender evaluations, technical bid analysis, and vendor qualification.
- Support commissioning, testing, and handover phases by ensuring technical readiness and compliance.
- Facilitate workshops, technical clarifications, and knowledge-sharing sessions with clients and teams.
- Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
- Conduct independent audits, inspections, and peer reviews to ensure technical integrity.
- Lead risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA, reliability studies) and recommend mitigation measures.
- Provide expert judgment on safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
- Mentoring & Knowledge Transfer
- Guide and mentor engineering teams, ensuring adoption of consultancy-level best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in engineering processes.
- Share technical knowledge and insights to elevate organizational capability.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
- Master’s Degree or Professional Engineering Certification (PE, CEng, PMP, or equivalent) preferred.
- 15+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5–7 years in consultancy roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading large-scale, high-value projects as an advisor or consultant.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and best practices.
- Proven experience in independent engineering reviews, audits, and technical advisory.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation skills for client-facing interactions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management at executive and technical levels.
