The Senior Workshop Supervisor oversees all workshop operations, ensuring efficient maintenance and repair of light and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. This role ensures high-quality service standards, optimal productivity, adherence to safety regulations, and timely availability of fleet and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise workshop technicians, mechanics, electricians, and support staff.
- Plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance and repair jobs for light and heavy-duty vehicles (e.g., cars, pickups, trucks, buses, construction equipment).
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Ensure preventive maintenance programs are executed on time.
- Oversee emergency breakdown repairs and mobile service teams.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate with procurement.
- Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities.
- Review work orders, job cards, inspection forms, and maintenance reports.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and workshop SOPs.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate workshop staff performance.
- Work closely with operations and fleet departments to plan equipment availability.
- Track KPIs: downtime, maintenance cost, job completion time, and equipment reliability.
- Ensure workshop cleanliness, organization, and professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Technology (or equivalent).
- 10-15 years work experience
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics & diagnostic tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and workshop best practices.
- Proficient in maintenance software / fleet management systems.
- Valid driver’s license for light and (preferably) heavy vehicles.
- Experience in [transportation / logistics / construction / heavy equipment rental / government fleet] environment.
Strong knowledge of:
- Light vehicles (cars, vans, pickups)
