The Position:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior/Principal Full Stack Developer to play a key role in the modernization of our core platform. This individual will contribute both strategically and hands-on, helping evolve a legacy system into a scalable, modern architecture while maintaining system stability and business continuity.

This individual will contribute both strategically and hands-on, helping evolve a legacy system into a scalable, modern architecture while maintaining system stability and business continuity.
This hands-on role requires a developer with deep technical expertise, capable of shaping architecture, making technology decisions, and delivering production-ready solutions from scratch. The ideal candidate should have architectural knowledge and the ability to design scalable, maintainable, and performant systems.
The successful hire will work from the Contour Software Karachi office as part of the resource-center team that is an extension of the division-based R&D department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Actively contribute to the design, evolution, and maintenance of system architecture across frontend, backend, and integrations.
- Evaluate existing architecture, identify technical debt, and propose pragmatic modernization strategies.
- Participate in architectural discussions, technical design reviews, and long-term platform planning.
- Ensure scalability, performance, security, and maintainability of systems.
Modernization & Legacy Transformation
- Lead and contribute to the migration of legacy systems to modern technology stacks.
- Refactor and modernize existing codebases while ensuring business continuity.
- Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term architectural improvements.
- Work within hybrid environments where legacy and modern systems coexist.
Development & Delivery
- Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack features and services.
- Implement robust unit testing, integration testing, and test automation strategies.
- Ensure high-quality, well-documented, and maintainable code.
- Participate in code reviews and enforce engineering best practices.
Collaboration & Ownership
- Work independently with minimal oversight while proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and resource needs.
- Pull in required stakeholders and resources at the right time to unblock progress.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA, and other engineers.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level developers.
Operational Excellence
- Support production systems and contribute to incident resolution and root-cause analysis.
- Help define and improve development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment strategies.
- Participate in decisions around tooling, frameworks, and engineering standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of strong experience as a Full Stack Developer with hands-on expertise in .NET and/or Java, and modern frontend frameworks, such as React.
- Proven experience building and maintaining complex production systems.
- Demonstrated ability leading or significantly contributing to system architecture design.
- Hands-on experience with modernization or transformation of legacy systems.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, system scalability, and maintainability.
- Experience implementing testing strategies, including unit, integration, and regression testing.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
- Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience working in modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
- Prior experience mentoring developers or leading small technical teams.
