SEO Specialist (In-House — Full-Time Onsite)

About Us

AS Estimation & Consultants is a construction cost estimating and quantity surveying firm serving clients across Australia, the USA, and New Zealand. We are building a results-driven, data-backed digital marketing function and are looking for an SEO Specialist who treats SEO as a measurable business function, not a checklist of activities.

What We’re Looking For

We need someone who can walk in on Day 1 and tell us: what’s our current organic traffic, what are our top keyword rankings, what’s our keyword map, and what’s our plan for the next 90 days, with numbers, not stories.

If you can confidently explain Google Search Console, GA4, keyword mapping, and a KPI-driven reporting framework in your interview, we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities — Daily Tasks

  • Monitor Google Search Console and GA4 dashboards for ranking fluctuations, crawl errors, indexing issues, and traffic anomalies
  • Perform on-page SEO for new and existing content (title tags, meta descriptions, headers, internal linking, schema markup)
  • Conduct keyword research for new content briefs using tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Google Keyword Planner
  • Coordinate with content writers/designers on SEO-optimized blog posts and landing pages
  • Track and respond to technical SEO issues flagged by Search Console (404s, redirect chains, mobile usability, Core Web Vitals)
  • Conduct outreach/link-building activities using current, white-hat techniques (guest posting, digital PR, resource link building, not outdated bookmarking/IFTTT tactics)

Key Responsibilities — Weekly Tasks

  • Update and maintain the Keyword Map document (target keyword to assigned page to current ranking to status)
  • Run keyword ranking checks for the agreed top 50-100 target keywords
  • Review weekly organic traffic trends in GA4 (sessions, users, top landing pages, bounce rate)
  • Audit new content published that week for on-page SEO compliance
  • Conduct competitor monitoring, track competitor keyword movements and content gaps
  • Identify and fix internal linking opportunities across the site

Key Responsibilities — Monthly Tasks

Prepare and present a Monthly SEO Performance Report including:

  • Organic traffic (with month-over-month and YoY trend comparison)
  • Keyword ranking report for top 50-100 keywords (with movement vs. previous month)
  • Conversion/lead data attributed to organic traffic (forms, calls, enquiries)
  • Technical SEO health summary (Core Web Vitals, indexing status, crawl errors)
  • Backlink profile growth and quality review
  • Content published vs. content plan
  • Review and update the KPI Framework, report performance against agreed baselines and targets
  • Conduct a keyword gap analysis against 2-3 key competitors
  • Recommend and plan next month’s content calendar based on data, not assumptions
  • Audit and refresh underperforming existing content ("content decay" review)

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years of hands-on, in-house or agency-side SEO experience with a proven track record, must be able to demonstrate real campaigns, real keyword rankings, and real traffic growth achieved (not theoretical knowledge)
  • Proven ability to manage 2-3 SEO projects/websites simultaneously within a similar industry/domain, this is a core requirement of the role, as you will be responsible for multiple company websites in the construction/estimating space
  • Strong working knowledge of: Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Ahrefs/SEMrush/Moz, Google Keyword Planner
  • Solid understanding of on-page, technical, and off-page SEO fundamentals
  • Experience building and maintaining keyword maps and KPI reporting frameworks
  • Up to date with current Google algorithm guidelines (Helpful Content, Core Web Vitals, E-E-A-T), must NOT rely on outdated tactics (social bookmarking, IFTTT syndication, link farms, etc.)
  • Experience with Australian and/or US market SEO (geo-targeting, local SEO, location-based content strategy) is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS platforms
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills

  • You can read a GA4 dashboard and immediately point out trends, anomalies, and what to do next
  • You believe in "fewer, better keywords" over "more keywords for the sake of volume"
  • You’re comfortable being measured against monthly KPIs and reporting honestly, including when numbers are down
  • You have successfully managed multiple SEO campaigns/websites at the same time within a similar industry, without losing focus or quality on any single project
