Service Technician Associate

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Service Technician Associate to join our team.

The minimum starting pay is $17.00 per hour; compensation above this level is commensurate with experience.

Under direct guidance from the Senior Service Technician or Service Technician, the Associate responds and repairs gas leaks and performs safe and professional repair and servicing of natural gas appliances for residential and commercial customers. Reports to the Field Customer Service Supervisor.

Supports Technician with Principal Accountabilities including:

· Performs servicing of natural gas appliances for residential customers. Diagnoses malfunctions in and performs minor natural gas appliance repairs, cuts on and off the gas, and installs residential meters.

· Act as a first responder on emergency odors.

· Assist in the installation and repair of underground service lines and gas pipes. Inspects pipes and other equipment for gas leaks, and tests for the presence of carbon monoxide.

· Receives and responds to inquiries, requests, and complaints from customers; provides information or refers problems to appropriate personnel.

· Receives, reviews, prepares, and/or submits various records and reports including work orders, leak reports, timesheets, wiring diagrams, vehicle maintenance reports, parts lists, daily work reports, etc.

· Primarily interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Installation Foremen, Supervisors, co-workers, and customers.

Supports Technician with Secondary Duties:

· Assists in maintaining an organized inventory of tools and materials used in daily tasks.

· Accurately records labor and materials used for individual jobs to ensure proper customer billing.

· Provides support to the Installation Group.

· On call for after-hours and weekend emergencies according to schedule.

· Operates a vehicle and a variety of equipment such as a telephone, radio, heaters, dryers, furnaces, kitchen appliances, mechanical tools, diagnostic instruments, hand tools, power tools, pipe locators, leak detectors, various meters, gauges, etc. May operate a backhoe and trencher to install/repair gas lines.

· Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly workplace.

· Adheres to and enforces applicable safety standards.

· Assist in the fueling and maintenance of vehicles used in daily tasks.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

IV. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications:

. Must have a SC driver's license and the ability to maintain standards for insurability.

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field

· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

· Demonstrated computer Skills.

· Demonstrated interpersonal skills.

· Within 24 months, obtain and maintain pertinent Operator Qualifications and successfully perform job-related skills as required.

Desired qualifications:

· Associate degree in a Technical Field

· 3 years’ experience in the natural gas industry.

· Possess and maintain a valid state of South Carolina commercial driver's license.

· Electrical experience

· Heavy equipment operation

· Welding Experience

Physical Requirements:

· Work is minimally strenuous but may require exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; will involve walking or standing for extended periods of time. Primarily works outdoors and may involve working during inclement weather. Must be able to walk over uneven terrain.

· Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and out-of-town, as needed.
