Your Impact:

SGRE Blade C/D Traveling Composite Tech - Lead (Composite Repair) specialize in conducting inspection and corrective repair of composite Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) components, utilizing established procedures, with the highest regard for health, safety, and environmental compliance. Wind Turbine Traveling Composite Technician will be responsible for internal and external inspection and repair of blades, nacelles, and other composite components, and will carry out tasks such as sanding, cleaning, cutting and lay-up of fiberglass, carbon fiber and resin materials. This position is 100% travel.

Core Responsibilities:

Employees in the Wind Turbine Composite Technician position should expect to:

  • Evaluate, inspect, diagnose and document internal and external composite damage, then photograph and assemble documentation as required.
  • Perform coating and structural repairs of internal and external composite structures, such as wind turbine blades and nacelles.
  • Modify and repair fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin and other composite materials as needed.
  • Work with site leadership to execute all contractual obligations and activities set forth with the customers daily, which can include composite repairs with respect to wind turbines.
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) as required to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and lamination schedules.
  • Coordinate with the engineering support team when needed for non-standard repairs.
  • Be the first on site and last to leave, demonstrate leadership, accountability, and reliability.
  • Set and model professional standards for safety, performance, and communication.
  • Participating in a project kick off and coordinate on site logistics.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the day.
  • Serve as the face of Pearce Renewables to the client, maintain professional and productive relationships.
  • Communicate clearly, proactively, and confidently to ensure ongoing trust and alignment.
  • Monitor weather, site conditions and shift changes to maintain productivity goals.
  • Oversee and verify technician progression alongside the resource manager using Field Verification in Insite.
  • Ensure completion of all DSR's daily.

Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs.

Core Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with composite materials in any industry.
  • Supervised composite blade damage assessment.
  • Lightening damage tip, carbon blade tip and multi-shell tip replacement.
  • Experienced with internal and external adhesive bonding.
  • Competent in repairing leading edge (LE) and trailing edge (TE) cracks.
  • Understanding of mix ratios for all composite repair chemicals.
  • Read and understand electrical schematic drawings.
  • Prior leadership experience or demonstrated ability to lead teams in high-performance environments.
  • GWO certified.

    • Advanced Structural Blade Repair (Formerly Blade D / SE-P-16700)
  • Work within confined space areas, such as inside a wind turbine nacelle.
  • Knowledge of various turbine platforms.
  • Work meets customer and company standards required of position and job, including following project schedules.
  • Strong communication skills.

Physical/Work Environment:

  • Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet.
  • Maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance.
  • Lift and move equipment as needed (more than 50 pounds).
  • Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses.
