Shipfitter/Welder

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Shipfitter to join our team, responsible for assembling and fabricating metal structures and components for marine vessels. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with various hand and power tools, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret schematics effectively.

Duties

• Assemble and fit metal components according to blueprints and specifications.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters.
• Perform welding tasks as required, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to safety standards.
• Conduct maintenance on equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Engage in heavy lifting of materials and components as needed during assembly processes.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve assembly techniques.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic in relevant fields such as vehicle maintenance or fabrication.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to work with schematics and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with electrical systems is a plus, along with rigging experience.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
• Experience in sheet metal work, soldering, assembly, and maintenance tasks is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently throughout the workday.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment.
