The Shop Foreman is responsible for coordinating and directing skilled repairs and maintenance of equipment in the service shop. Provides excellent customer service, maintains professionalism, and ensures detailed records are accurate and up to date. This position reports to the Service Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist shop technicians in testing and troubleshooting engine, hydraulic, and electrical failures, determining cause of failure, documenting for warranty, and performing proper repairs.
Mentor, develop and coach technicians on how to perform their role to the best of their abilities.
Ensure technicians are documenting, organizing, and working efficiently to manage the in and out flow of equipment while maintaining efficiency levels of at least 80% billable time.
Maintain profitability through efficient management, quality repair, and work order processing.
Ensure the shop maintains a clean and organized appearance.
Perform quality checks on completed jobs to ensure the work meets quality standards.
Manage work-in-process and pending service work to ensure repairs are proceeding in a timely fashion, needed parts are available, and the status is communicated to the customer.
Provide accurate quotes to customers which include cost of materials and labor, correct repair path and any other OEM updates or servicing needs.
Prepare, open, maintain, review and close shop work orders and service tickets in a timely manner. Ensuring warranty claims are submitted within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit.
Discuss and answer customer questions regarding services provided and charges on repair.
Enforce all safety rules and practices and ensure all tools and equipment are in safe operating condition.
Perform work as a technician when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and/or Qualifications
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and dealer business systems
Must be able to communicate and understand English
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must have own hand tools and toolbox
Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills
Excellent customer service skills to include follow-up and taking initiative in contacting customers throughout the work process as needed
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Must pass a background check and drug screen
Working Conditions
Capable of pushing, pulling, carrying, or lifting 60lbs
Able to climb stairs, steps, ladders, mount and dismount equipment
Able to work in all types of weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, and dirt)
Travel as needed for training or to perform work at other locations
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 5 years of technician experience in a heavy equipment/construction equipment service department
Dealership or rental service experience preferred
