Reports To: Shop Operations Manager
Join Our Team
We're a home-grown California architectural metalworking shop known for craftsmanship, precision, and collaboration. We're looking for a Shop Operations Lead to help us improve our systems, streamline processes, and keep production moving efficiently.
This is not a traditional shop foreman role. While you'll work closely with the production team, this position focuses on administration, ERP management, and process oversight - ensuring projects stay on track, data is accurate, and communication flows seamlessly between the shop and office.
What You'll Do
Operational Oversight & Process Management
- Coordinate production schedules to ensure jobs run on time and align with client deadlines.
- Manage Fulcrum ERP to track job progress, timelines, and capacity.
- Provide weekly "on track" or "off track" updates to leadership on milestones and capacity.
- Support the Shop Operations Manager in resourcing projects and shifting priorities as needed.
ERP & Systems Administration
- Maintain accurate data in Fulcrum ERP for inventory, PTO, capacity, and production tracking.
- Review and approve QuickBooks Time timesheets daily for labor reporting.
- Ensure ERP, timekeeping, and reporting systems stay fully integrated and up to date.
Continuous Improvement & Efficiency
- Propose at least one process or efficiency improvement per month, including cost, labor, and timeline estimates.
- Collaborate with leadership to evaluate, prioritize, and implement approved initiatives.
- Review OSHA practices monthly and communicate progress and challenges to leadership.
Cross-Team Communication
- Respond to estimator and administrator requests within one business day using ERP data.
- Act as a liaison between the production floor and office team to ensure smooth project coordination.
- Keep leadership informed of capacity impacts, production updates, and potential delays.
Who We're Looking For
This role is perfect for someone who:
- Thrives in administration and process management rather than hands-on fabrication.
- Enjoys organizing systems, optimizing workflows, and leveraging data to make decisions.
- Is comfortable working closely with production teams while staying focused on operations and efficiency.
- Wants to make a meaningful impact on how a growing shop manages schedules, resources, and reporting.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience managing ERP systems, workflows, or production tracking tools in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple moving parts.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms (Fulcrum experience a plus), scheduling tools, and timekeeping systems.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating across teams.
- Comfortable in a production-adjacent role - understanding shop dynamics without hands-on fabrication.
Preferred, But Not Required:
- Experience in architectural metal fabrication or custom manufacturing.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety compliance processes.
