Social Manager

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Social Manager to join our team, to be based in Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of social performance for the project, ensuring compliance with UAE laws, client requirements, Good International Industry Practice (GIIP), and the Environmental & Social (E&S) Performance Standards.


Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Communication

  • Share project updates with affected/nearby communities in a clear and transparent manner.
  • Listen to concerns and feedback, consult on mitigation measures, and incorporate community input into project planning.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, and coordinate to ensure broad awareness of project activities.

Social Risk & Impact Management

  • Identify, assess, and monitor social risks and impacts associated with the project.
  • Develop and implement mitigation measures in line with E&S documents, GIIP, and client performance standards

Community Development & Partnerships

  • Explore and coordinate partnerships for community development programs.
  • Promote initiatives that improve community well-being, cultural understanding, and social sustainability.

Compliance, Reporting & Documentation

  • Ensure all social aspects are managed in compliance with Applicable E&S Law, IFC Performance Standards, and client requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports (monthly/quarterly) on social performance for internal management and client submission.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social sciences, Sociology, Sustainability, Community Development, or related field.
  • 8–10 years’ experience in social management on large-scale EPC/construction projects, preferably in the Middle East.
  • Proven experience in community engagement, stakeholder consultations, and social risk mitigation.
  • Preferrable but not mandatory: Knowledge of UAE labour laws, international labour standards (ILO), IFC/World Bank E&S Performance Standards, and GIIP.
  • Excellent communication skills: Arabic is mandatory
