Social Media Intern

Purpose of Role

The Social Media Intern is responsible for conducting research, identifying needs and opportunities, and developing foundational materials to support 5 to 6 clients and account teams.


The intern role is responsible for enhancing our clients' brands and building strong online communities through social media platforms. Additionally, this person is responsible for developing and administering social media content designed to engage users and create an interactive relationship between consumers and companies we represent. They will also collect and review social media analytics to develop more effective campaigns based on data.


Primary Responsibilities

Account management:

  • Generate, edit, publish, and share daily content (original text, images, video) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Align with account leads on strategy and execution of content plans
  • Develop and maintain calendars highlighting upcoming opportunities
  • Maintain accurate billables reporting

Influencers, Social Listening, and Monitoring:

  • Assist with influencer list development and maintenance
  • Prepare client-facing briefing notes to support analytics and social media highlights gained through social listening
  • Monitor client channels daily and communicate with teams on posts that need attention and provide recommendations on responses

Analytics and Reporting

  • Monitor and record client social media metrics weekly and monthly
  • Monitor the client’s social media accounts and offer constructive interaction with users
  • Develop monthly reports on emerging social media trends that will be submitted to the management and executive teams
  • Analyze the long-term needs of the client’s social media strategy and offer quarterly reports to the management and executive teams that outline any necessary changes to the social media plan

Team and Client Relations:

  • Project a positive attitude and be detail and client-oriented with good multitasking and organizational abilities, as well as a creative approach to content

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in social media management tools, such as SocialFlow, BuzzSumo, Hootsuite, and SproutSocial.
  • Comfortable with software such as Canva, Asana, and Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of in-platform advertising, as well as both paid and earned social syndication strategies.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of six months of relevant experience in PR, marketing, social media, etc.
  • Bachelor's Degree in PR, Communications, Marketing, English or related field
  • Experience with, or strong interest in, B2B technology
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Ability to work both independently and with teams
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to deliver creative solutions for clients looking to raise their social media presence
  • Ability to understand complex social media data
  • Familiarity with image sourcing sites and basic photo editing tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills
