Social Media Manager

Fieldwork Brewing Company is a craft brewery founded in Berkeley, CA with a focus on exceptional, honest beer making. Fieldwork has quickly gained a following in the craft beer community since the brewery began production in early 2015. We have ten taprooms throughout the greater Bay Area which are known for the range and quality of our beers and ever-changing tap list of fresh releases. Our promise to our customers is to provide exceptional beer, alongside an exceptional experience, with the intention of creating a long-lasting relationship with our community and beyond.

Job Summary

Fieldwork is looking for a Social Media Manager who is equal parts creator, community builder, and professional cat-herder. We need a digital storyteller to translate our sprawling world—including everything from award-winning beers & non-alcoholic beverages, full-service restaurants, a growing retail presence, and major sports partnerships—into compelling content that actually makes people do things.

You’ll own the "why" behind our marketing efforts, ensuring every post, reel, and story reinforces Fieldwork’s position as a leader in hospitality and craft beverages. More importantly, you’ll be the person ensuring we don’t just post "cool" stuff, but that our storytelling actually moves the needle (and the product).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Social Strategy: Own the day-to-day execution of our narrative across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and whatever comes next.
  • Multimedia Content: Lead day-to-day production. We need high-quality photography and short-form video (Reels/TikTok) that highlights our beverages, our spaces, and our people without looking like it was filmed on a potato.
  • Strategic Copywriting: Be our digital voice. Write brand-aligned captions that resonate with everyone from the "Lupomax" nerd to the casual diner looking for a crispy lager and a slice of pepperoni.
  • Content Calendar: Develop and execute a data-driven calendar. You’ll align posts with product releases, seasonal menu launches, and taproom activations so we aren’t just winging it.
  • Community Engagement: Act as the frontline for Fieldwork. This means appearing on camera, responding to comments, and building authentic, non-corporate connections with our followers.
  • Performance Analytics: Monitor engagement and conversion. If a post flops, you should know why; if it kills, you should know how to do it again.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical Chops: Expert-level mobile content creation. You know how to light a beer pour, edit a trending audio transition, and keep the brand aesthetic tight.
  • Obsessive Quality Control: You are the final line of defense. You catch the typo in the Story, notice when a location is tagged for a pizza special they don’t serve, or spot when a photo uses a UPC or can artwork from three iterations ago.
  • Strategic Mindset: You understand that social media drives foot traffic and retail velocity, not just “likes.”
  • Adaptability: The ability to pivot as fast as we change our taplist while maintaining high autonomy.
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% to capture content at our locations and various events.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Experience: 3-5+ years managing social media for a brand, ideally in craft beer, hospitality, or a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Regularly sitting at a desk and working on a computer to design, review, or attend meetings.
  • Occasionally carrying up to 30 pounds of work material.
  • Frequent use of a computer, mouse, keyboard, and visual display; ability to view detailed artwork, color proofs, and small text.
