Software Development Manager

Job Description

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Leader. This role is central to lead the development and growth of technical capabilities across software development team ensuring our talent, practices, tools, and delivery processes continuously evolve to meet business goals and expectations. In addition to acting as a bridge between delivery, talent development, and business leadership, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Define, implement, and continuously evolve the capability roadmap in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Identify emerging trends, tools, and practices, and assess their relevance to internal teams and business needs.
  • Establish and maintain skill matrices and capability benchmarks.
  • Lead Global delivery center software development capability managers and coach them to foster a collaboration culture within Giza Systems.
  • Define department performance metrics to measure capability efficiency e.g. utilization, LPI, growth rate, attrition rate, etc.
  • Deliver regular reports and insights to senior leadership on capability status and impact.
  • Anticipate and shape talent pipeline in terms of strategic growth and readiness.
  • Collaborate with HR to attract high-caliber professionals, develop, and retain top technical talent
  • Design and oversee learning & development programs (upskilling, certifications, mentoring).
  • Lead communities of practice and foster a knowledge-sharing culture.
  • Drive cultural change programs that focus on collaboration, resilience, and continuous improvement.
  • Support teams in adopting modern engineering and delivery practices (AI, Agile, DevOps).
  • Drive adoption of consistent standards, frameworks, and reusable assets across teams.
  • Monitor and improve team’s maturity and delivery effectiveness.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution ability.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and geographies.
  • Strong experience in change management and influencing senior stakeholders, including conflict resolution and cross-geo collaboration.

Technical Skills

•Proven experience in capability management, technical mentoring, or engineering excellence programs.
•Strong understanding of modern software delivery lifecycle, including Agile, DevOps, and cloud-native practices.
•Familiarity with tools for knowledge management, capability tracking, and performance measurement.
•Proven track record of embedding a culture of engineering excellence through modern practices (code quality standards, automation, observability, cloud-native delivery).

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
