Position Overview:

The Software Orchestration Specialist (SOS) – SLED is a gross margin–focused role dedicated to accelerating incremental growth in our most strategic State, Local Government, and Education (SLED) accounts. Working in tandem with the Software Solutions Sales Team and Account Managers, the SOS executes targeted strategies to support existing customers, and assist with landing and expanding incremental Gross Margin through identifying upsells, license optimizations, and expansion initiatives.

This role is uniquely positioned to navigate the complexities of public sector procurement, including cooperative agreements, RFPs, sole-source justifications, and compliance with state/local purchasing rules. SOS-SLED leverages expertise in Microsoft GCC/GCC High, Azure Government, Office 365 Education, and other specialized public sector licensing frameworks to maximize value for customers while driving profitable growth for the business.

By supporting our core Microsoft customers, this will allow us the opportunity to expand in key accounts by identifying high-margin opportunities, aligning with government/education contract vehicles, and ensuring compliance, the SOS will assist in supporting and accelerating account profitability. This role maximizes value from key vendors like Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, VMware, and other strategic publishers, while fostering trusted, long-term partnerships in the public sector.

What you’ll do as a Software Orchestration Specialist:

Key Responsibilities:

Incremental Margin Acceleration

  • Collaborate with the Software Solutions Sales Team to identify and prioritize high-margin upsell and expansion opportunities within SLED accounts, aligning growth with public sector budgets, fiscal year cycles, and grant funding sources.
  • Support license positioning, optimization strategies, and emerging requests across Workplace Software, Datacenter Software, SaaS, and IaaS categories—ensuring compliance with government/education procurement requirements.

Publisher & Vendor Expertise

  • Support our customers around key publishers (Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, VMware, etc.) for complex, high-value SLED opportunities.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of Microsoft public sector programs (e.g., GCC/GCC High, Microsoft for Education, Azure Government, Security & Compliance frameworks) to support, uncover and execute expansions.
  • Advise customers on EDU and government-specific licensing programs, cooperative agreements, and state contract vehicles (NASPO, DIR, GSA, etc.).

Renewals & Expansion Opportunities

  • Assist with the renewal processes in SLED accounts, proactively managing RFP timelines, budget cycles, and competitive risks.
  • Use renewals and other time based events as a platform to execute upsell, consolidation, and license optimization strategies that accelerate Gross Margin.
  • Manage Annual Payment Opportunities, ensuring compliance with fiscal year constraints and maximizing incremental profitability.

Quality Assurance & Margin Insights

  • Validate quotes and orders for alignment with public sector compliance requirements and incremental margin goals.
  • Deliver tailored reporting that ties expansion-driven Gross Margin growth to public sector funding and budget cycles.

Client Engagement & Strategic Partnership

  • Position the company as a trusted advisor in navigating SLED licensing complexities, procurement rules, and compliance standards.
  • Partner closely with Account Managers and Software Solutions Specialists to resolve customer inquiries and design expansion strategies.
  • Build long-term strategic relationships with State, Local, and Education customers by aligning growth strategies with their mission, compliance, and funding objectives.


What you will bring to the team:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1 or more certifications from Microsoft, VMWare, AWS, Google, Adobe, or other publishers required (public sector–specific certifications a plus).

Required Experience

  • 3+ years in software licensing, solutions consulting, or account management.
  • Strong understanding of software/cloud lifecycles, public sector procurement, and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence decision-makers in government and education.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive growth across software, solutions, and services.

Preferred Experience

  • Expertise in Microsoft public sector programs (GCC, GCC High, Azure Government, EDU).
  • Familiarity with cooperative purchasing vehicles (NASPO, DIR, GSA).
  • Experience positioning services in tandem with software licensing.
  • Track record of success in SLED accounts.

Performance Metrics

  • Year-over-year incremental Gross Margin growth within assigned SLED accounts.
  • Contribution to SLED software gross margin targets through upsells, optimizations, and expansion motions.
  • Effective execution of compliance-aligned renewals and expansion strategies.
  • Strength of customer trust and long-term partnership in SLED segments.
