Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Partner with Cross-functional team to define sourcing requirements and ensure suppliers can meet technical specifications, drawings, and compliance standards
- Lead technical assessments of suppliers, including process capability studies and material evaluations
- Support new product development (NPD) by sourcing prototype and production suppliers aligned with technical requirements and meet/exceed the capabilities of our competition
- Conduct Make-or-Buy analysis with a focus on technical feasibility, manufacturability, and long-term reliability
- Collaborate with suppliers on manufacturability improvements, cost optimization, and technical innovation
- Evaluate total landed cost while factoring in quality, compliance, risk, and reliability.
- Analyze tariffs, geopolitical risks, and material availability with emphasis on engineering-critical components
- Drive supplier diversification to reduce reliance on single-source or high-risk suppliers.
- Ensure sourced components meet applicable industry standards (ISO, UL, RoHS, REACH, etc.)
- Oversee first article inspections (FAI) and PPAP submissions for new suppliers
- Work with Engineering and Quality to validate technical performance of sourced components
- Develop and maintain Approved Vendor List (AVL) with a focus on technical capability and long-term reliability
- Serve as the technical interface between Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality teams
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and component transitions to new suppliers
- Provide input into design decisions to balance technical requirements with sourcing feasibility and cost
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field (required)
- 3+ years of experience in sourcing, supplier quality engineering, or product engineering within an electrical component or connector environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities, electrical components, connector technology, and material science
- Experience in supplier qualification, FAI, PPAP, and technical audits
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Macola preferred) and engineering documentation (CAD drawings, BOMs, specs)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Strong technical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of global sourcing strategies and supply chain best practices
- Strong manufacturing knowledge of connector manufacturing processes including machining, stamping, injection and compression molding, plating, etc
- Excellent communication skills with ability to bridge technical and commercial discussions
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills with technical grounding
