The Sourcing/Category Manager will be responsible for leading the strategic sourcing and category management of HVAC and Plumbing products within the Marcone Group by working collaboratively across the business to develop and execute the strategy for assigned product categories. This role will develop and implement category strategies to drive cost savings, ensure supply continuity, and foster supplier relationships. As a key member of the Global Sourcing team, this role will work closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, operations, finance, and sales to optimize supplier agreements and ensure that the organization’s supply chain meets business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Category Strategy Development: Conduct market research and analysis within assigned categories to lead the development and execution of category strategies for HVAC/Plumbing equipment, parts, and supplies. Develop and execute category plans based on market analysis, supplier performance, and consumer trends.
- Supplier Relationship: Maintain the strong relationships built by our Commercial team with key global and regional suppliers, ensuring alignment with Marcone’s operational and strategic goals.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate long-term agreements with suppliers, focusing on price, quality, service, and innovation. Ensure agreements adhere to best-practice supply chain models and provide value to the organization.
- Cost Negotiation: Negotiate cost with strategic vendors to take out cost and avoid cost increases. Ensure margins are protected through competitive benchmarks and market indices.
- Spend Analysis and Cost Reduction: Analyze spend data to identify savings opportunities and track category performance. Implement cost-reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, value engineering, and supplier consolidation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders such as procurement, supply chain, sales, and operations teams to drive category strategies, resolve supply issues, and ensure supply continuity.
- Supplier Performance Management: Develop and manage supplier performance scorecards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost, quality, delivery, and innovation. Work closely with suppliers to continuously improve performance and lead QBR’s with strategic suppliers.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including those related to supplier reliability, market fluctuations, and geopolitical factors.
- Market Intelligence: Stay informed on market trends, supplier developments, and innovations within the HVAC industry. Leverage insights to inform category strategies and supplier negotiations.
- Compliance and Sustainability: Ensure all supplier agreements adhere to corporate social responsibility (CSR), environmental sustainability, and compliance standards. Promote ethical sourcing and sustainability initiatives within the HVAC category.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Category Manager within one of the following sectors: Industrial, Manufacturing, Automotive, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods, (FMCG), Distribution
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
- Experience in global sourcing and managing supplier relationships across multiple regions
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, parts, and supplies market.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, sourcing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Analytical skills for spend analysis, total cost of ownership (TCO), and market intelligence gathering.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other analytical platforms a plus

Certifications:
- CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management), or similar certifications are a plus.
Travel:
- Willingness to travel up to 30-35% of the time
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This full-time position requires approximately 40 hours per week and involves regular physical and sensory activity, including:
- Bending, lifting, and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged sitting (up to 8 hours), with intermittent standing and walking throughout the shift
- Continuous use of fingers, hands, and arms for computer and office-related tasks
- Frequent use of office equipment such as computers, phones, and scanners (up to 8 hours daily)
- Regular verbal communication via phone and in-person interactions (up to 6 hours daily)
