Job Title - Specialist / Consultant – Pediatric Surgery

Reports To - Head of Pediatric Services / Medical Director

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pediatric Surgeon to join our healthcare facility in Sharjah. The successful candidate will be responsible for the surgical management of congenital and acquired conditions in neonates, infants, children, and adolescents, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with international standards and UAE healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and surgically manage pediatric surgical conditions
• Perform elective and emergency pediatric surgical procedures, including neonatal surgeries
• Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and provide comprehensive post-operative care
• Collaborate closely with pediatricians, neonatologists, anesthetists, and nursing teams
• Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with MOH regulations and hospital policies
• Participate in on-call rotations and emergency services as required
• Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous medical education
• Supervise and guide junior doctors and allied healthcare staff when applicable

Scope of Practice (may include but not limited to)

• Neonatal and pediatric general surgery
• Congenital anomalies and pediatric urology procedures
• Pediatric gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgeries
• Trauma and emergency pediatric surgical care
• Minimally invasive pediatric surgical procedures (laparoscopy)

Qualifications & Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
• Specialist / Consultant qualification in Pediatric Surgery (MS, MCh, Arab Board, FRCS, or equivalent)
• Valid MOH license or eligibility to obtain licensure in Sharjah
• Minimum 2–3 years of post-qualification experience as a Pediatric Surgeon (preferred)
• Strong expertise in neonatal and pediatric surgical procedures
• Excellent communication skills and a family-centered approach to care
