Title: SPI/AVEVA Administrator / Engineer

Job Purpose
-
Responsible for administering and maintaining SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and AVEVA Instrumentation databases, ensuring data integrity, customization, and integration with other engineering systems.
- Additionally, provide engineering support for instrumentation design deliverables, ensuring compliance with project standards and efficient execution during FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation) and AVEVA Instrumentation environments for multi-user projects.

Interface with IT teams for server hosting, virtualization, and license management.

Liaise with vendors and EPC teams for SPI/AVEVA customization and troubleshooting.

Provide training and user support for engineering teams on SPI/AVEVA functionalities.
-
Manage project databases, user access, roles, and security settings.
-
Perform data migration, version upgrades, and patch deployments.
-
Customize templates, reports, and deliverables (e.g., wiring diagrams, loop drawings, instrument index).
-
Ensure integration with other SmartPlant tools (S3D, SPEL) and AVEVA applications.
-
Implement backup and recovery strategies; monitor system performance and troubleshooting issues.

Maintain instrument index, wiring details, loop diagrams, and I/O lists in SPI/AVEVA.

Validate data consistency between SPI/AVEVA and other engineering systems (DCS/PLC vendor databases).

Generate bulk data reports for procurement, construction, and commissioning.
-
Support tag numbering conventions, document coding, and revision control.

Develop and review instrument datasheets, wiring schematics, and hook-up drawings.

Coordinate with Instrumentation & Control engineers for design updates and database alignment.

Assist in preparing MTOs, cable schedules, termination details, and as-built updates.

Ensure compliance with IEC, ISA, and project-specific standards.
Experience
-
Experience: 8 - 10 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control design with minimum 4 years’ hands on SPI/AVEVA administration in FEED and detailed engineering projects.

ADNOC experience is an added advantage.

Demonstrated track record delivering I&C design and integration on FEED/detailed engineering projects.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation or Electronics & Communication Engineering

SPI/AVEVA Admin Certification is added advantage.
Technical Skills
-
Proficiency in SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and AVEVA Instrumentation administration.

Knowledge of Oracle/SQL databases for SPI/AVEVA backend.
-
Familiarity with instrumentation design principles (control valves, transmitters, analyzers, junction boxes).
-
Understanding of I&C standards: IEC, ISA, ANSI, API.

Experience with data migration and integration between engineering tools.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
