GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources (HR) by performing a wide variety of complex secretarial, clerical, and technical duties. Employee will also serve as first contact for HR, providing superior customer service when responding to phone calls, emails, and walk-ins from staff, students, and the public. This position receives direction from the Associate Director of Human Resources and exercises no supervision.
Note: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:
Knowledge of: 1. Proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation; 2. Principles and practices of confidential records management and file maintenance, both physical and electronic; 3. Pertinent Federal, State, and college laws, rules, and regulations related to HR functions; 4. Budgeting practices, requisitions, and invoice processing; 5. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and scheduling; 6. General office practices, customer service principles, and event planning logistics; Skills in: 7. Providing courteous, professional customer service to diverse populations; 8. Communicating clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; 9. Maintaining accurate records with strong attention to detail; 10. Using Microsoft applications, HR software, and office technology; 11. Analyzing data, proofreading, and preparing accurate documents; 12. Prioritizing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing needs; Ability to: 13. Exercise discretion and confidentiality in all work-related matters; 14.Create and maintain accurate records and reports, both paper and electronic; 15. Learn and apply new software and systems quickly; 16. Perform complex secretarial and administrative work requiring independent judgment; 17. Organize and coordinate projects, events, and office functions effectively; 18. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, employees, and the public; 19. Work collaboratively as part of a team to support HR and college-wide goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activates. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: More than one year of work experience.
