Responsible for overseeing and coordinating interior design projects, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and aesthetics
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs projects and/or reviews architectural or engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with government codes, laws, and regulations.
- Advises subcontractors on the interpretation of plans, recommends changes when necessary.
- Prepares and/or review preliminary designs, working drawings, specifications and cost estimates related to the project.
- Provides technical expertise in development or review of policies and procedures in relation to architectural structures and systems and construction/safety codes.
- Reviews Subcontractor’s shop drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and contract agreements by checking them for technical accuracy according to accepted guidelines.
- Works with customers and Clients to gather facts, defines design and space planning problems, conceptualize possible solutions and secure approvals of proposals.
- Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and architectural judgment in developing architectural solutions.
- Produce construction documents using software.
- Understand construction assemblies, best practices and link with the execution.
- Actively coordinate design and equipment with consultants and other disciplines.
- Research and select building products and compose written specifications.
- Participate in project meetings and document discussions through meeting minutes.
- Actively participate in quality assurance/quality control review sessions at project milestones.
- Compile all documentation required to submit projects to Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for review and approval. Tracks submissions and responds to comments and requests from AHJs as required to obtain permits.
- Manages project through Construction Administration phase by routing RFIs and shop drawings to the appropriate team member, responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, issuing ASIs and RFPs, and reviewing pay applications.
- Travel to and visit project construction sites to observe construction progress and compose field reports.
- Continually learns and stays informed of new systems, methods, and sustainable practices to benefit the collective team and clients.
- Actively supports strategic goals of the firm, studio, department, and manager, as well as understand how your actions contribute to them.
- Monitor the projected budget and perform within the controls while seeking cost-optimizing solutions.
- Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in interior design and architecture through ongoing professional development and networking activities.
- Attending training and seminars to upgrade the knowledge.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, or a related field
- Professional Experience: Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in interior design and project management, with a strong portfolio of completed projects
- Licenses /Certifications: Professional certification or licensure as an architect or interior designer preferred.
- Competencies:
- Strong understanding of architectural principles, building codes, and construction techniques
- Strong knowledge of Building standards and related regulations.
- Understanding of Project Management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to interior design and architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
