The Enoch Pratt Free Library has an opening for a passionate facility professional to serve as our new Sr. Director of Facilities Management. The Sr Director will charter a vision for the future of our physical environment using creative problem-solving strategies. The Sr. Director will lead a diverse team in specialized areas that include building operations and maintenance, program management for renovation projects, and facility management services.
This position reports to the COO, and will require evening and weekend hours, including emergency response or departmental coordination during special circumstances.

Summary of Duties:
Develops, recommends, and oversees the enhancements, construction, repair, cleanliness, and maintenance of all library facilities. Supervises and monitors the work activities of facility maintenance personnel.
Develops and implements long-range building maintenance, improvements, and modernization initiatives.
Advises COO on maintenance, construction, and custodial programs.
Assess staffing needs and identify shortfalls; interview, recruit, and hire new staff.
Ensure proper instruction and training of personnel in methods and procedures, proper use of equipment, general preventative maintenance, system maintenance and repair, and proper safety protocols.
Promotes adhering to the proper chain of command, support and enforce all library policies, OSHA regulations, governing health and safety regulations and guidelines.
Maintains liaison with library personnel, community groups, and government officials to resolve library maintenance and operational challenges.
Directs and oversees the ordering and requisitioning of all building maintenance supplies, equipment, and materials. Establishes facilities maintenance, repair, and renovation schedules.
Develops and maintains daily, weekly, monthly, and annual equipment maintenance inspection logs.
Confers with architects, engineers, contractors, Library Directors, and other staff regarding needed capital projects and maintenance projects through conversation, progress reports, work evaluations, site meetings, site walk-throughs, and detailed project reports.
Performs carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and repair work of average difficulty and recognizes when a higher level of expertise is needed.
Prepares annual report on the facilities, planning, and management operations and programs.
Develops and maintains daily, weekly, monthly, and annual equipment maintenance inspection logs.
Attends management and staff meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in business management, project management, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, an additional five (5) years of experience is required.
Eight (8) years of program/project management and/or supervisory experience related to facilities management, building operations, facilities maintenance, and/or construction oversight.
Ten (10) years of experience in directing and coordinating the activities and operations of a large-scale building operations and maintenance program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Supervisory experience.
Project management experience.
Experience in construction management.
Experience developing and/or updating departmental standard operating procedures.
Experience in operational management role for a public library.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of building construction, operation, maintenance and repair strategies.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of capital planning.
Knowledge of sanitary and custodial practices and procedures.
Ability to direct and coordinate a large-scale building maintenance, repair, and construction program.
Ability to plan and schedule long-range, phased capital improvement initiatives.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city, state, and federal officials and agencies on matters affecting library facilities.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Administrative ability.
Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed is essential to appropriately addressing emergencies and special circumstances.
Comfortable in a high pace, dynamic, pressure driven environment.
