Vice President of Human Resources
SCOPE OF POSITION:
Oversees the recruitment, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), benefits, training and development at FireKeepers Casino Hotel. Implements recruiting and training systems to ensure qualified applicants are employed and that they have the necessary skills to successfully perform their job. Oversees the administration of career enhancement programs and curriculum to ensure that Team Members have the necessary skills to excel in their current position while cultivating career growth opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a list of the main duties and responsibilities. However, other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by management. All duties must be performed in accordance with Tribal, Federal, and other applicable requirements, organizational specific policies, procedures and practices.
Manages the employment process for all exempt and non-exempt positions by developing effective and efficient recruiting programs and procedures.
Oversees the effectiveness and maintenance of the HRIS and related business processes with an emphasis on security and accuracy.
Counsels’ management with respect to Tribal, Federal and State regulations impacting employment policy and practices, including wage and hour regulations, as required.
Oversees the Benefits team to ensure the day-to-day benefits administration, open enrollment, benefit education, compliance, claims resolution and reconciliation is completed efficiently and accurately.
Provides input on design, development and preparation of benefits related programs and reports.
Ensures that Personal Leave, Family Medical Leave, written documentations, and terminations are processed and filed in compliance with policy and practices.
Analyzes Human Resources data to determine trends, issues, and possible solutions.
Oversees the assessment of training needs, as well as the development and implementation of a training plan and correlating budget.
Develops and assists property leadership with performance metrics, performance appraisal review processes and forms; while effectively monitoring and enforcing company expectations.
Develops and proposes annual operating goals and budgets to the VP of Human Resources (HR) for training, recruiting, HRIS, benefits and other programs as assigned.
Oversees the development and design of training materials and programs for all departments.
Ensures ongoing success of e-learning programs, and the maintenance of a training library.
Responsible for the ongoing development, execution and achievement of the Succession Program. This includes planning, budgeting and regular updates to Executive Management and the FireKeepers Development Authority.
Oversees Educational Assistance Program.
Oversees and administers internal mentoring and internship programs.
Ensures proper recruiting, scheduling and collaboration with casino operations management to assist them with specific job skills training during mass hiring situations.
Oversees the development and implementation of train-the-trainer programs.
Researches and proposes recruitment strategies to the VP of Human Resources to reduce overall expenses and create new efficiencies.
Develops career development systems, including record-keeping and teaching the leadership team to conduct career discussions with their staff
Maintains thorough knowledge and understanding of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Indians Preference in Employment Code.
Provides oversight and input for job compendiums, compensation practices and salary surveys.
Reviews turnover and exit interviews, to consolidate feedback, and analyze for trends.
Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.
Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record as outlined in the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Attendance Policy.
Outstanding example of and a credit to FireKeepers Casino Hotel.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include maintaining sufficient staffing levels; interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
MINIMUM REQURIED QUALIFICATIONS:
An applicant’s education, training and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the ability to successfully perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication is required.
Four-year college degree in Human Resources or related field. Five years’ experience in the gaming industry with a minimum of four years in a managerial role. Four years of Human Resources experience in Training, Recruitment, HRIS, Benefits, and/or Organizational Development. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office; specifically, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
GENERAL OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Four-year degree in Human Resources. Five years’ experience in the gaming industry with a minimum of four years of experience in a Human Resources managerial role overseeing Training, Recruitment, HRIS, or Benefits.
Successful completion of any of the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Track Training programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal, and work with mathematics such as probability and statistical inference.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work is performed throughout all areas of the facility where the noise level varies from quiet to loud depending upon business.
