SR. PLANNING ENGINEER

We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer with a strong background in villa communities, buildings, and infrastructure projects to join our team. In this role, you will function as a Project Controls Specialist, contributing expertise in project planning, scheduling, and earned value management to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and validate updated project schedules, identify potential delays/slippages, highlight critical activities, and propose mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, including schedule analysis, key risks, and actionable recommendations to ensure timely project completion.
  • Review and provide approval for contractors’ baseline schedules in accordance with contract requirements and best practices.
  • Assess resource allocation and ensure adequacy for timely execution of project activities.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated Master Programme covering multiple project packages, identifying interdependencies and impacts.
  • Proactively identify risks and conflicts, maintaining and updating the Project Risk Register.
  • Perform detailed assessment of claims, including Extension of Time (EOT) and disruption claims using recognized forensic delay analysis techniques (e.g., Time Impact Analysis, Window Analysis).
  • Demonstrate clear cause-and-effect relationships for delay events and identify concurrent delays where applicable.
  • Coordinate and resolve planning and scheduling issues with contractors, consultants, and the client.
  • Lead discussions to finalize contractors’ programs, reports, and claims submissions.
  • Participate in project meetings (kick-off, technical, coordination, progress reviews) and prepare concise Minutes of Meeting (MoM).
  • Develop and maintain trackers/logs for monitoring critical issues during design and construction phases.
  • Provide analytical responses to contractor notices using planning data, contractual provisions, and construction best practices.
  • Maintain proper documentation and contemporaneous project records.
  • Issue delay notices and performance letters where required.
  • Lead and mentor a team of planning engineers, providing both technical guidance and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in planning and scheduling for engineering and construction projects.
  • Proven experience in villa communities, buildings, and infrastructure developments.
  • Strong expertise in EOT claims and delay analysis.
  • Experience managing contractors and consultants on-site.
  • Prior involvement in large-scale infrastructure and utilities projects in the Gulf region is essential.
  • In-depth understanding of construction industry practices, coordination requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
