ChefStable partners with chefs to design, build, and operate restaurants and other hospitality businesses. We provide management services including accounting, human resources, project management, and operations oversight. We create structure and systems for hospitality-focused client partners, while recognizing that each small business is different. ChefStable supports approximately 30 locations across 2 states. This is a casual, but high-performing work environment.
Summary
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing core accounting functions for multiple client entities, providing accurate, timely data to operating partners, in order to support growth and improve the financial success of their businesses. Aided by a remote team who perform general bookkeeping functions, the Staff Accountant is responsible for fully supported general ledger balances. This role involves both direct preparation and review. Your expertise will contribute to the overall financial health of the businesses that we support. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and accountability are a must for this environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide review and feedback to our offshore team as they perform general bookkeeping functions including vendor bill entry, customer invoicing, and bank reconciliations. Engage with the offshore team in expectation setting, feedback, and clear & consistent email communication.
- Manage cash flow, including vendor payment processing.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain proper internal controls.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, maintaining all assets and liabilities including fixed assets, prepaids, debt, etc.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements for multiple companies.
- Communicate monthly financial statements to restaurant management, including variance analysis and explanations to support statements.
- Maintain and enforce established accounting procedures, and document new processes as needed.
- Provide support, feedback, and training to restaurant managers and other operators in order to streamline accounting processes and ensure timely information sharing.
- Coordinate year end close for tax preparation, including fixed asset additions and disposals, and prepare yearly property tax returns.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- The majority of time will be spent sitting or standing at a desk, with prolonged periods of time focusing on tasks
- Office and hospitality locations may involve ascent/descent from stairs
- Role includes frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and/or crouching
Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks, working efficiently with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of Excel; Restaurant365 a plus.
- Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance related field preferred

- $72,000+ base salary, depending on experience

Working Hours
- Monday-Friday, in-office to start, but will transition to hybrid once fully trained. We recognize that life outside of work is important, that flexibility is needed for family and personal needs, and that work can sometimes be effectively carried out remotely or outside of regular scheduled hours.
