Staff Accountant

Shonk Land Company LLC is a privately owned business operating across various industries, including minerals, commercial real estate, and oil and gas production.

Staff Accountant

Full-time, offers full benefits such as paid vacation, 17 holidays, 401(k), profit share the company contributes 25% of salary, as well as medical, dental, and vision insurance. In-person position located in Charleston, WV.

Key Responsibilities

Individuals must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Perform routine bookkeeping functions, including data entry, bank account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and general ledger review.

· Maintain accurate financial records.

· Review accounts payable entry for accuracy and post to the general ledger.

· Perform daily bank deposits and record the receipt entry in the general ledger.

· Perform accounts receivable review and properly post to tenant ledgers.

· Perform calculations for additional rent, tenant move-outs, and security deposit refunds.

· Prepare and submit outstanding accounts receivable verification when the tenant requests a balance.

· Prepare and submit credit applications to vendors.

· Assist with the calculation of common-area maintenance account reconciliations and billing to tenants.

· Perform month-end journal entries to close the general ledger.

· Prepare B&O Tax and Sales and Use tax calculations and submit for payment in accordance with laws and procedure.

· Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations.

· Review and prepare journal entries to move construction in progress to the proper accounts, post depreciation, and reconcile differences with the fixed asset software.

· Prepare support schedules and work papers for the audit.

· Communicate with internal staff, vendors, and outside property managers to resolve discrepancies.

· Special Projects as requested.

· Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. Yardi real estate software experience a plus.

· Maintain organized electronic documentation

Qualifications:

Any combination of requirements that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities will be considered.

· Strong accounting practice and knowledge

· Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. Yardi real estate software experience a plus.

· Accounting education or accounting experience

· High attention to detail and accuracy

· Strong organizational and time-management skills

· Ability to accept changes in process and procedures.
