Staff Accountant

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Staff Accountant performs a variety of duties related to accounting under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Accountant for multiple funding sources.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Responsible for the proper documenting, accounting & reporting of inventory and purchasing transactions.
  • Prepares credit card reconciliations.
  • Assists in the preparation of financial and other reports.
  • Prepares spreadsheets to help analyze and distribute requested financial data.
  • Assists in the preparation of financial statements which include performing bank reconciliations, preparing and posting required journal entries, reviewing, and reconciling all balance sheet accounts and preparing summaries of significant events.
  • Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material; updates record as necessary.
  • Assists in the budget process for the Organization as well as multiple funding sources.
  • Assists in the review and update of department procedures and documentation.
  • Ensures purchase orders, check requests, invoices, filing, and other administrative duties are complete.
  • Other duties assigned.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • 1 to 2 years of accounting analysis and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with use of 10-key adding machine.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential materials.

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • US citizenship is required.
  • Individuals in this role will undergo a background investigation tailored to the level of risk and sensitivity associated with the position.
  • Hepatitis B, seasonal Influenza immunizations, and a TB test are mandatory.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
