JOB SUMMARY
The Investment Staff Accountant is responsible for accounting, reporting and operational activities of the investments, including but not limited to accounts payable, bank reconciliations and journal entries. A high level of performance will provide opportunities to assist with additional projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for the bi-monthly accounts payable process, including approving and coding each invoice based upon the appropriate contract, job, internal guidelines and required approvals

Ensure all costs are within approved budgets and commitments

Prepare payment package for internal review and obtain approvals

Communicate with vendors regarding timing of billing and payment procedures
-
Assist with maintaining the books and records of asset and debt investments
-
Prepare bank reconciliations
-
Prepare journal entries, including monthly upload of operational activity for hotel investments
-
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations or tie-out to sub-ledger as instructed

Assist with preparation of lender reporting

Perform CAM reconciliations, as applicable
-
Prepare interest invoices on debt investments
-
Cash management, including preparing wire transfers with backup support and obtaining approvals

Maintain investment accounting schedules, as applicable

Cash report

Debt schedules

Reporting schedule

Lender compliance schedule

Prepare and organize tax compliance documentation as applicable

Process year-end 1099s
-
Support year-end audit process by external auditors
-
Provide accounting and legal records
-
Provide check registers and other support
-
Review construction draws/payment requests for authorizations and documentation, as applicable

Responsible for monthly and as needed bill preparation and distribution for related company billings
-
Responsible for insurance broker invoice routing including following up on payment with JVs as necessary

Other ad-hoc responsibilities

Recording deposits

Support to cash management as needed
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting is required
-
3 - 5 years of accounting preferred
-
Accounts payable experience preferred

Development cost or real estate cost accounting experience a plus

Timberline software experience or similar software a plus
-
High-level Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex formulas, etc.)
