Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Staff Accountant (Temporary) to join the accounting and finance team at our steel manufacturing facility. This entry-level role is designed to provide broad, hands-on exposure to core accounting functions within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in daily transaction processing, accounts receivable and accounts payable administration, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and cost accounting support under the supervision of the Plant Controller. This position offers valuable experience in real-world manufacturing finance operations and meaningful involvement in month-end close and financial reporting activities.
In addition to transactional and analytical responsibilities, the Staff Accountant will assist in developing and documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and internal processes. These materials will support knowledge transfer and training for the counterpart Staff Accountant in Colombia, contributing to cross-functional alignment and operational consistency.

Responsibilities:
- General Accounting:
- Assist in recording and posting daily financial transactions to the general ledger.
- Support preparation of journal entries under direction of the Plant Controller.
- Help maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and accrual tracking.
- Ensure transactions are coded correctly by department, project, and cost center.
- Accounts Payable:
- Receive vendor invoices and ensure accurate billing details in collaboration with the purchasing team.
- Matching vendor invoices to purchase orders and ensuring proper coding to General Ledger accounts and departmental tags.
- Monitoring and reconciliation of Accounts Payable Aging Reports.
- Processing of vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and matching to purchase orders.
- Processing vendor payments and remittance details
- Accounts Receivable:
- Generating Sales Orders for new incoming projects and preparing invoices to customers according to project timeline expectations Generate and send external customer and intercompany invoices in accordance with contract terms, pricing, and tax details.
- Maintain customer billing schedules (recurring billing, milestone billing, project billing, etc)
- Receive and post customer and intercompany invoice payments.
- Maintain organization of accounting related customer/project documentation.
- Monitor and reconcile Accounts Receivable Aging reports.
- Collaborate with procurement and production to ensure milestone billing schedules are met.
- Banking & Cashflow Support:
- Support organization and preparation of bank reconciliations.
- Maintain supporting schedules for cash disbursements and receipts.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Provide documentation to support sales/use tax filings and other regulatory reports.
- Help prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor information requests.
- Follow internal control procedures and support compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
- Administrative & Departmental Support:
- Collaborate with the Sr. Staff Accountant and Plant Controller on other duties and projects as assigned.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining electronic and paper financial records.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives within the accounting department.
- Monitor and maintain accounting communication desk system
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop, document, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), accounting processes, and cross-functional workflows to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
- Lead onboarding and training efforts for new hires, including the Staff Accountant counterpart in Colombia, ensuring process consistency and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with purchasing/procurement departments for alignment on cashflow and purchasing strategies.
- Support budget alignment for purchase requisition approval process
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Experience: 3-5 years of accounting experience; manufacturing or internship experience is preferred but not required.
- Certifications: CPA or CMA is strongly preferred.
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and core accounting functions.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP/accounting software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Eagerness to learn, with a proactive and professional attitude.

Work Schedule:
- You will be expected to be available and working during our company’s full-time business hours from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (CST).
