Staff Medical Officer, Anaesthesiology

Introduction

The Anaesthesia Department at Aga Khan University Hospital is dedicated to delivering comprehensive perioperative care, operating room services for surgical procedures, intensive care for critically ill surgical patients in our surgical intensive care unit, and expert pain management for acute and chronic conditions. Our department comprises skilled anesthesiologists, qualified nurses, and highly trained surgical and anesthesia technicians. We are firmly dedicated to providing compassionate, ethical, accessible, and top-tier healthcare to all patients in need of surgical, anesthesia, intensive care, and pain management services.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • perform preoperative anaesthesia assessment of patients
  • provide perioperative anaesthesia care to patients undergoing surgery
  • provide anaesthesia care to patients undergoing procedures outside the operating room (Radiology, Radiotherapy and endoscopy suites, etc)
  • perform related procedures under the supervision of a consultant
  • follow the hospital’s quality and patient safety policies in the provision of patient care
  • take part in department quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

You should have:
  • MBBS degree from HEC recognized university, however, an additional diploma or MCPS in a relevant field will be preferred
  • at least seven years post MBBS experience in related areas
  • ability to maintain continuous open and consistent communication with faculty, staff, patients, and their families.
  • strong decision-making sense by weighing several factors and developing solutions that address the root cause of the problem and prevent recurrence.
  • ability to act quickly to address a crisis situation drawing on appropriate resources
  • command over counselling patients and their families.
