STEM Teaching Assistant

Overview

Join our team as a Teaching Assistant and help create a warm, engaging, and supportive learning environment for young children. This role is perfect for someone who genuinely enjoys working with kids and wants to play a meaningful part in their growth, confidence, and curiosity. You’ll support classroom activities, assist with creative projects, and help guide students through hands‑on learning experiences that make each day exciting and memorable.

Many wonderful candidates for this role are recent or current college graduates looking for part time work coming from youth‑focused or creative backgrounds rather than formal teaching. If you’ve recently been a camp counselor, helped kids with art or craft projects, supported after‑school programs, volunteered with youth groups, or simply enjoy being around children and watching them learn, your experience is incredibly valuable here.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with young people someone patient, encouraging, and excited to guide kids as they explore new ideas and express themselves. You don’t need a teaching degree; what matters most is your ability to create a warm, supportive environment where children feel safe, curious, and confident trying new things.

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in delivering engaging lessons and hands‑on activities that support learning and creativity.
  • Support students during classroom projects, helping them stay engaged, confident, and on task.
  • Help prepare materials for daily activities, including crafts, group work, and learning centers.
  • Maintain an organized, welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and positive behavior.
  • Provide gentle guidance and encouragement to students, helping them navigate challenges and celebrate successes.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and staff to support classroom routines and student needs.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture focused on student growth and well‑being.

Experience

  • Experience working with children in any setting such as camps, after‑school programs, youth groups, tutoring, childcare, or community programs.
  • Comfort supporting young learners with patience, empathy, and clear communication.
  • Familiarity with early childhood or elementary‑aged students is a plus.
  • Background in special education or supporting children with diverse needs is helpful but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine enthusiasm for helping children learn and grow.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, structured environment while encouraging creativity and exploration.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
