Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Material Receiving:
- Receive all incoming materials and equipment from suppliers and vendors.
- Physically verify the quantity and quality of materials against the delivery challan and purchase order.
- Prepare a Goods Received Note (GRN) for all accepted materials.
- Report any damaged, defective, or short-supplied items to the Project Manager and Purchase Department immediately.
- Material Storage & Handling:
- Ensure all materials are stored in a safe, clean, and organized manner in their designated locations.
- Implement proper storage methods to prevent damage, deterioration, or theft (e.g., stacking cement bags on pallets, covering materials from rain).
- Maintain a clear and systematic layout of the store for easy access and identification of items.
- Material Issuance:
- Issue materials to the site team (engineers, supervisors, foremen) only against a duly authorized material requisition slip (indent).
- Ensure the correct quantity and specification of material is issued as per the indent.
- Maintain proper records of all issued materials.
- Inventory Management & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records, both physically (in a stock register/bin cards) and digitally (in MS Excel or ERP software).
- Conduct regular physical stock verification (daily, weekly, and monthly) and reconcile it with the book stock.
- Keep track of minimum stock levels and inform the Project Manager in advance to reorder materials and avoid work stoppage.
- Prepare regular reports on material consumption, stock levels, and non-moving items.
- Coordination & Safety:
- Coordinate with the Purchase Department for material deliveries and with the Accounts Department for submitting GRNs and supplier invoices.
- Ensure the security of the store area and control the entry of unauthorized personnel.
- Maintain general cleanliness and adhere to all safety norms within the store.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree (preferably B.Com) or a Diploma is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years of proven experience as a Store Keeper, preferably on a construction project site.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Excel for maintaining stock records and preparing reports is essential.
- Familiarity with any ERP or inventory management software (like Tally) is a strong advantage.
- Good understanding of various construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Strong mathematical and record-keeping skills.
- Core Competencies:

- Attention to Detail: Meticulous and accurate in counting and documentation.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent ability to manage space and keep records systematically.
