Overview
The Warehouse Manager provides hands-on leadership for the shipping, receiving, and fulfillment teams, fostering a culture of safety and high performance. This position is accountable for the entire 'dock-to-dock' process, ensuring that incoming raw materials are processed rapidly and outgoing orders are packed to the highest quality standards. As the final gatekeeper of the facility’s output, the Warehouse Manager bridges the gap between production and the customer, ensuring operational goals are met through disciplined process execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily operations for receiving, warehousing, picking, packing, and shipping to ensure a continuous and efficient flow of materials.
- Direct all inventory control activities, ensuring that every physical movement (from receiving to shipping) is mirrored in SAP in real-time to maintain data accuracy.
- Lead the picking and packing teams to ensure 100% order accuracy, meeting strict customer delivery windows and specialized packaging requirements.
- Manage the inbound dock operations, ensuring all incoming materials are verified, processed quickly, and staged for Quality Inspection (IQC) without bottlenecks.
- Design and maintain the warehouse layout to maximize storage capacity, improve picking paths, and ensure the safe and logical flow of heavy equipment and personnel.
- Establish and lead a rigorous cycle counting program and periodic physical inventory audits to eliminate year-end discrepancies and financial shrinkage.
- Ensure a Safety First environment by enforcing OSHA-compliant material handling practices and managing the maintenance/certification for all forklifts and warehouse equipment.
- Monitor and report on key warehouse metrics such as On-Time Delivery (OTD), Order Cycle Time, and Picking Accuracy to drive team performance.
- Manage the picking of Work Orders and Sales Orders using system generated pick lists, ensuring that every item pulled is electronically recorded in real-time to maintain 100% inventory synchronization between the physical shelf and the digital record.
- Execute specialized logistics projects and technical assignments as directed by leadership to support facility-wide operational, safety, and inventory goals that may fall outside the primary warehouse scope.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive management experience within a manufacturing warehouse or factory-integrated environment.
- Must have direct experience supporting production operations through kitting, raw material staging, and managing the specialized material flow required for a manufacturing facility.
- Advanced proficiency in using an ERP system (such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics) to manage multi-step inventory transactions and shipping workflows.
- Extensive experience overseeing the entire dock-to-dock process, including receiving, put-away, kitting, and final outbound shipping.
- Ability to develop and implement standardized work instructions for material handling and warehouse slotting to maximize space utilization.
- Deep knowledge of warehouse safety standards, including rack load limits, forklift safety certification, and hazardous material handling.
- Experience managing departmental budgets, including labor costs, shipping expenditures, and warehouse consumable inventory.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with Production, Quality, and external freight partners.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings or bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure the correct parts are identified and issued to the shop floor.
- Practical experience applying Lean tools in a warehouse setting, such as 5S for workspace organization, Visual Management for inventory levels, and Kanban for replenishment.
