Structural Design Engineer

UPDA Grade A
holder to deliver safe, efficient, and aesthetically aligned structural designs that support architectural and interior concepts for commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Develop structural design concepts in coordination with architects and interior designers.

Perform structural analysis and calculations for concrete, steel, timber, and composite structures.

Prepare and review structural drawings, details, and specifications for interior fit-out and base-build works.

Ensure designs comply with local authority regulations, international codes, and client requirements.

Assess existing structures and provide strengthening or modification solutions for refurbishment and interior alteration projects.

Coordinate with MEP consultants to resolve design clashes and integration issues.

Provide technical input during design development, value engineering, and tender stages.

Support site teams with technical clarifications, shop drawing reviews, and design revisions.

Identify potential structural risks and propose practical, cost-effective solutions.

Maintain accurate design documentation and calculation records.
Skills & Competencies
-
Strong structural design and analytical capability.
-
Proficiency in structural software (e.g. ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD).

Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.

Understanding of interior fit-out constraints and coordination requirements.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-engineering stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).

5-10 years’ experience in structural design, preferably within a consultancy environment.

Experience working on interior fit-out, refurbishment, or design-led projects is an advantage.

Knowledge of relevant international codes (e.g. Eurocodes, BS, ACI).
-
Professional registration or progress toward chartership is desirable.
-
Must have UPDA Grade A certificate
