Structural Draughtsman

Key Responsibilities include:

• Preparing detailed structural drawings including layouts, sections, and elevations for concrete elements such as slabs, beams, columns, footings, and walls.
• Producing reinforcement (rebar) drawings and bar bending schedules (BBS), ensuring full compliance with applicable codes and project specifications.
• Developing and updating General Arrangement (GA) drawings for reinforced concrete structures.
• Coordinating with structural engineers to interpret design requirements and apply necessary modifications.
• Ensuring dimensional accuracy and clarity to prevent construction discrepancies.
• Maintaining high standards in rebar detailing, including accurate specifications of size, type, spacing, and placement.
• Adhering to project timelines while maintaining drawing quality and consistency.
• Liaising with site teams and contractors to clarify drawing content and resolve construction issues.
• Revising drawings based on design updates or site-related feedback.
• Maintaining organized drawing logs and ensuring proper version control.
• Assisting in the preparation of technical documentation and reports as needed.

Key Skills Required:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other drafting tools (e.g., ASD, Revit, Tekla Structures, or equivalent BIM platforms).
• Strong knowledge of concrete structures and reinforcement detailing standards.
• Familiarity with BBS preparation and codes such as BS 8666 and ACI 315.
• Ability to accurately interpret architectural and structural design documents.
• Effective communication and coordination skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in reinforcement detailing.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in structural drafting, with a focus on concrete detailing.
• Previous experience on medium to large-scale projects (commercial, residential, or infrastructure).
