JAHSTEEL is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer specialized in structural steel design, analysis, and technical coordination. The candidate must have strong experience in designing steel members, preparing structural calculations, coordinating with consultants, and supporting fabrication and site execution teams.
The role requires a technically strong engineer who can assess project requirements, propose optimized design solutions, resolve design-related issues, and coordinate closely with project managers, consultants, draftsmen, procurement teams, suppliers, and site teams.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for carrying out project technical assessments, value engineering, structural analysis, and design studies to propose safe,and optimized steel structure solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing structural calculation models using STAAD PRO, IDEA StatiCa and other structural design software.
- Carrying out structural analysis and design calculations for heavy and light steel members, connections, frames, platforms, mezzanines, canopies, industrial structures, and other steel works.
- Preparing and reviewing technical specifications, calculation reports, design notes, and engineering submissions.
- Performing project value engineering to optimize steel tonnage, connection details, fabrication practicality, and site installation methods.
- Taking technical decisions related to design issues and providing engineering solutions during project execution.
- Providing design input and technical advisory support to Project Managers, Project Engineers, fabrication teams, and site teams.
- Coordinating with consultants, resident engineers, architects, other designers, and project stakeholders to resolve ongoing technical matters.
- Reviewing contract specifications, BOQ, drawings, tender documents, and project requirements to identify discrepancies, technical clarifications, and design obligations.
- Providing structural assessment of existing structures, including site inspections, technical surveys, identifying structural defects, and recommending strengthening or corrective solutions.
- Working with geotechnical engineers where required to review soil investigation reports, ground conditions, and in-situ test results relevant to structural design.
- Attending project meetings related to design, technical clarifications, consultant comments, authority requirements, and design approvals.
- Following up with consultant engineers and resident engineers for design approvals, comments, clarifications, and technical submissions.
- Supervising and guiding the drafting/detailing team for timely preparation of shop drawings, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and other technical submittals.
- Coordinating with procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors regarding material suitability, availability, specifications, alternative materials, and compliance with project requirements.
- Supporting the fabrication and site teams with technical clarifications, member details, connection requirements, and design-related coordination.
- Ensuring all designs comply with applicable UAE regulations, Dubai Municipality requirements, project specifications, and relevant international codes and standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Structural Engineering / Civil Engineering with specialization or proven experience in structural steel design.
Minimum 5 years of UAE experience is mandatory in structural steel engineering, steel structure design, or related construction/fabrication works.
Strong experience in steel structures, including industrial steel structures,, special steel structures, building crown structures, cantilever structures, ACP support frames, high-end steel structures, mezzanines, platforms, canopies, frames, and related fabricated steel works.
Must be familiar with Dubai Municipality structural requirements, UAE authority requirements, and local consultant approval procedures.
Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, design techniques, construction methodology, fabrication requirements, and site installation practices.
Experience in preparing structural calculations, design reports, technical submissions, and consultant approval documents.
Ability to review and coordinate shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings.
Software Knowledge
Candidate should have strong knowledge and hands-on experience in structural engineering software and drafting/modeling tools such as:
STAAD Pro
IDEA StatiCa
SAP2000
Midas
AutoCAD
Revit
MS Office
Knowledge of RFEM will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of Tekla coordination will also be considered an advantage.
Programming knowledge or advanced Excel skills will be an added advantage.

Mandatory Requirement
Minimum 5 years of UAE experience in structural steel design/engineering is mandatory.
Candidates without UAE structural steel experience will not be considered.
