Structural Engineer (Glass reinforced concrete)

A Structural Engineer for Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) specializes in the design, load analysis, and installation of non-structural architectural elements. In the UAE, they are heavily focused on wind loads, thermal expansion, and fixing details for GRC facades, panels, and decorative features.

Core Responsibilities

Structural Design: Calculate wind loads, gravity loads, and seismic forces on GRC panels and cladding systems.

Fixing Details: Design the structural brackets, anchors, and framing systems that connect the GRC elements to the main building structure (concrete or steel).

Shop Drawings Review: Evaluate and approve shop drawings for panel fabrication, ensuring they align with architectural intent and safety codes.

Material Properties: Apply knowledge of GRC material behavior (compressive strength, flexural strength, and curing requirements) to ensure structural integrity.

Authority Compliance: Ensure all facade and GRC designs meet local building regulations (e.g., Dubai Municipality or UAE Fire and Life Safety Codes).

Site Coordination: Conduct site visits to resolve installation issues, inspect anchor points, and verify that fixing methods match approved calculations.

Key Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Experience: Typically 5 to 10+ years of structural engineering experience, with a focus on facades, cladding, or precast/reinforced concrete.

Software Proficiency: Mastery of structural analysis and CAD tools such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, and Revit.

Local Regulations: Familiarity with the Dubai Municipality (DM) classification or approvals is a major advantage for local placements

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED25,000.00 per month
