Structural Steel Field Foreman

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Working Foreman to lead and work alongside our field crews on commercial steel projects. This is a hands-on position. The right candidate must be able to supervise the crew while also performing steel installation and welding when needed. This is not an office position. You will be working in the field daily, installing beams, columns, joists, decking, rails, and other structural steel components. You must be comfortable performing layout, fitting, bolting, and welding as part of the daily work. The ideal candidate has strong field experience, can read structural drawings, communicates clearly, and leads by example. Safety, productivity, and teamwork are very important to us.

We are looking for someone reliable, experienced, and ready to take responsibility on job sites across VA, MD, and DC.

Duties

• Lead and supervise structural steel installation on job sites.
• Work directly with the crew to install beams, columns, joists, decking, rails, and other steel components.
• This is a working foreman position — you must be willing to weld, bolt-up, fit, and assist the crew when needed.
• Read and understand structural drawings and layout steel correctly.
• Coordinate daily tasks with the project manager and other trades on site.
• Make sure all work is done safely and according to OSHA standards.
• Hold quick safety meetings and enforce safety rules.
• Keep the job moving and make sure deadlines are met.
• Communicate clearly with the crew, project managers, and general contractors.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.

Experience

• 3–5 years minimum experience in structural steel erection and installation.
• Strong hands-on field experience in commercial steel projects.
• Must have practical welding experience (SMAW / FCAW preferred).
• Must be able to read and understand structural drawings.
• Experience leading and supervising a crew.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Experience operating forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
