The Access Services department of Georgia College & State University's Library oversees visitor access to materials and information. We are the front line for assistance and directing visitors to various service areas based upon their needs. Student Assistants in Access Services assist in the access and maintenance of GCSU Library collections; GIL Express and ILL processes; security and facility checks; service questions and directions; and circulation desk duties.
The successful applicant will work a Monday-Friday schedule, with the possibility of working some weekend or nighttime hours and the expectation of extended hours during midterms and finals.
Fall and Spring semester hours:
Monday-Thursday: 8:00AM-1:00AM
Friday: 8:00AM-6:00PM
Saturday: 10AM-6:00PM
Sunday: Noon-1:00AM
Daily Tasks - 40%
Students will perform daily tasks like checking out and returning GC, GIL, and ILL books and equipment, statistics checks, and completing your shift checklist.
Customer Service - 60%
Students will interact with patrons and visitors at the Georgia College & State University Circulation Desk.
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
Other Required Qualifications
Student enrolled in at least six credit hours as an undergraduate student at Georgia College & State University.
Must have working knowledge of general office practices and duties.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Possess outstanding customer service skills.
Must be proactive and able to engage with constituency.
