Job Summary

  • The Public Information and Engagement Section of the Division of Environmental Services (also known as Live Green Lexington) is seeking to hire an Outreach Design/Digital Media Intern to assist our team in developing a variety of creative projects, including event signage, digital graphics and social content like Instagram posts and reels.
  • This is an internship for winter/spring 2025/2026 with the possibility of continued employment through the summer and/or the 2026-2027 school year. The Outreach Design Intern will work closely with the Marketing and Community Outreach teams to develop appropriate assets.
  • This is a flexible, part-time job with a maximum of 24 hours per week, and a minimum of 15 hours per week. Work will take place at the Phoenix Building, 101 East Vine Street.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:
  • Art and Graphics: create a variety of physical projects and displays, along with print and digital graphics.
  • Videography: film and edit for social media, websites, presentations and mass media.
  • Photography: capture, edit, label and store photos for specific purposes and stock use.
  • Content creation: assist staff with producing social content and videos. Comfort on camera is a big plus!
  • Tabling/Trailer materials: work with other staff to identify needs; develop and create boards, interactives, handouts, swag, “made you look” displays, etc.; keep materials updated; ensure information and presentation is consistent with online, print and consultant-developed materials.
  • Editing: update websites; write and review press releases, newsletters and other longer-form content
  • Tabling and events: staff as needed. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
REQUIRED Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Comfortable in Adobe Illustrator
  • Comfortable editing video for social media
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with staff
  • Self-directed team player who gets things done
  • Ability to work outdoors and complete physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays to meet work objectives
  • Willingness to undergo a background check
  • A valid driver’s license
