Summary

Maximize awareness of University Libraries services and events through creative, targeted social media management, and additional digital marketing platforms. The Social Media Intern will report directly to the Communications and Events Strategist for University Libraries.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a social media strategy for University Libraries.
  • With guidance from full-time staff, develop original content for use on University Libraries digital platforms (web, social media, email, etc.).
  • Monitor and evaluate new social media tools, trends, and applications to increase social media followers and engagement.
  • Attend events as needed to take photos and video.
  • Create graphics for social media and other digital platforms using Canva.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the University Libraries and BGSU.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at BGSU.
  • Experience managing social media pages (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
  • Strong communication, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Works well individually AND as part of a team.
  • Ability to work approximately 10-15 hours per week.
  • Ability to self-motivate with little supervision.
  • Familiarity with Canva design.
  • Interest in careers that involve social media marketing preferred.
  • Some knowledge of photo and video editing preferred.
  • May be required to work special events outside regular operational hours.
