Substitute Teacher

Hopkins Montessori School is looking for substitute teachers! Hours may be on-call and/or scheduled in advance as needed, and will always be Monday - Friday between 7:50 AM and 4:30 PM. Once orientation is complete, available shifts will be communicated via text message and you can choose to accept or decline. Once a shift is accepted, reliability is extremely important as we must be within state student:teacher ratios at all times!

HMS consists of two classrooms, our Toddler House (age 16 months - 33 months) and our Children’s House (33 months - 6 years old). The Toddler House enrolls up to 12 children with 3 teachers present and the Children’s House enrolls up to 30 students with 3 teachers present. Subs are never asked to work alone and will have detailed training prior to working with children. Substitute teachers may be asked to help with indoor and outdoor supervision, cleaning, toileting, dish washing, and helping children get settled for nap.

In order to sub at HMS, you must be at least 18 years old and willing to complete a federal background check along with fingerprints (we will help you with this process) and paid staff orientation prior to having contact with the children. You must also have or be willing to complete CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.

The hourly rate for this position is $18 - $22 DOQ.
